Thank you, Jeff for moving forward in faith, to young Giselle for literally and faithfully shining a light into the darkness, and to Mason for your constant support in this project. Groundbreaking: October 2025

A prayer for the women and children who seek sanctuary, and the ones who have been called to serve them

A bold, dense, heavy doubt interrupts the flourishing landscape that is the temple of our hearts and the sanctuary that is Lydia House. This project encourages us to destroy the insistent doubt that can hinder our attention upon the work that God desires to do in our lives. Community members are invited to physically break the bands of doubt asunder, rebuking and extinguishing it in specific areas of our lives. Doubt not. is a call to take part in the empowering and physical act of faith that strengthens our bones as we dismantle the barriers that do not serve us, such as offered in the project Fear Not.

This project calls for an actual demolishing of disbelief. It urges us to tear down the obstacles that prevent us from expanding in wisdom, flourishing in confidence, and reinforcing our faith, that together we might rebuild upon a solid foundation upon which our potential can abound. It can be daunting as we work to begin our lives anew, and/or to be the ones who support this cause. This work is an offering of support to the ones who need us. We believe in you.

If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.  – Matthew 21:21

Let us work together in moving these mountains that obstruct the path upon which we have been called to walk.

It is my privilege to partner with the Long Beach Rescue Mission on this project. Dedicated to providing care to the men, women, and children to help them overcome their struggles with an addiction, poverty and homelessness, they provide shelter in two facilities—The Samaritan House, a home for men, and Lydia House, a haven for women and their children. The Mission also offers a New Life Program which helps our neighbors overcome substance abuse while confronting life’s deeper challenges. While searching for a rich, black paint for the text in this project, I found a color called Rock Bottom. For many, this is where God finds us. I am ever grateful for the way that love, faith, and art meets us right where we are.
